CATHOLIC SHOOLS WEEK
This week we have the privilege of celebrating our Catholic school heritage. Every Catholic school around the country is celebrating this week as something special. It is really amazing that thousands of Catholic parishes and schools around the country still think Catholic education is something special. We, as a Redemptorist parish, should be reminded that it was our own St. John Neumann, the 4thBishop of Philadelphia and Redemptorist saint, who helped organize the Catholic school system here in the United States. This is no small accomplishment. I invite all of our parishioners to consider enrolling their children in our Holy Ghost Catholic School. I am very indebted to my own parents who put 6 children through 1-12 grades of Catholic schools. It was very much of a burden for them, but I am eternally grateful. I couldn’t think of doing it any other way. I know this will also be a financial burden on many of you. It is not easy to put your children in a Catholic school, but the education, discipline, and Catholic atmosphere is well worth it. There is financial aid available for you. You may have seen in the paper that the Kinder Foundation has given 5 million dollars to the Archdiocese for use in diocesan schools. They are willing to give a lot more if the parishes and schools are willing to work for it. There are a lot of people who think a Catholic education is well worth it and I am one of them. Please consider enrolling your child for school today at Holy Ghost.
